Top of the league ???

You must be having a laugh ! But its true , Im stillpinching myself to believe it. I got a text message from Terry saying, "weve got 9 points out of 9" where are we. I phoned him up & tried to stay calm ... "WE'RE TOP OF COURSE!!!"
Apparently this is the first time in 93 years that we have won the first three games of the season. Im sure some of teh people at work will ask me if I remember the last time !!

I dont care... Im walking on air

First day of the season

Well here it is at last. After all the hopes, worries and theories, we got to day 1 of the new season. I had to go into work today which was a pain, but I left in plenty of time to get to the ground. Before the game I had a wander around, looked at the new stand. It looks great... so much better than the old shed that we had for the West Stand, where people would pee up against the back wall, and you could smell the efforts of the fat fryer all over the stand. The only thing I was surprised about is that people accessed the new stand from the pitch side. That could cause problems and will need an awful lot of stewarding.

I took my seat in the "family" section. Not as good a seat as I had asked for, but with 9 of us together it was going to be difficult. But where were the other 8 ? Well Terry is on the east caost with his family, Paul is in Toronto, and I havent got a clue where Trevor was.. oh well. My new neighbours around me seemed OK... very committed to Orient. One young girl (13 or 14) has a voice on her that could strip paint from the walls... Believe me I dont think we will be sleeping through many games this season !

The game started brilliantly, scoring in the first minute or so, and Orient looked like they were sharp, eager and ready to impress. Throughout the first half they had the better of the game, and Macclesfield really didnt look like they were in it. The first part of the second half was different. Macc took the midfield over, and we resorted to trying to play long balls, something we are not very good at. When they equalised it wasnt a great surprise. I was amazed at how many of the Orient supporters turned so quickly with cries of "youre useless" and "bring back Harrison" ... Its a long season.

Efe Echanomi came on and his pace changed everything. He was pushing on the defence and gaps started to open up. All of a sudden we had new options. Then with time running out he picked up a loose back pass, rounded the goalkeeper... and stopped on the line waiting for the defenders to chase him before he scored. Thank God the referee didnt blow his whistle. The place went mad, and there were people on the pitch by the new West Stand... as I said , that is going to cause us problems.

Oh well 2 away games to come, and the next home game is Rochdale at home.... I can't wait.

Typical Orient

I met Terry down the blood bank this evening, they gave him three punctures in different places, and still didnt get a result. Thats a bit like Orient. They lost tonight 3-1 against Thurrock... How did they do that !

I think this week was a really good example of wht it is like being an Orient fan. Early in the week we all got really excited that we have signed a scottish premier league player, Easton. That has really caused a buzz. Terrys mate Keith even phoned the club because he didnt beleive the web site !

Then tonight we lost to Thurrock.. but if you read the message boards...

...........it wasnt an important game,
...........it was only a run out to get fit
...........We had a mainly youth team out there,
...........We had several first team players out injured....

Just wait till the next game, that will show them !!!

Orient win 6-1 (or was it 9 ?)

First friendly of the season today, away to Cirencester.
I couldnt go to the game (I rarely go to away games) so I made do with checking on the internet. What a shambles !
First I checked BBC. I couldn't find it anywhere. So then I tried sky sports. 0-0 was the score... at 3pm (!)
So then I tried the Leyton Orient message board. Its a great message board, always interesting stuff... but for getting a score right ? Forget it. According to our intrepid bunch of fans the score was, 1-0, then 2-0 then 3-0. (so far so good). Then it was 3-2 and then it was 6-0 . ( I began to think something was wrong here) Then later, all at the same time different people said that it was 6-1, or "Reuters said it was 8" or someone else said 9-1.

Finaly someone confirmed that sky sports had said it was 6-1. I still wasn't convinced, and only believed the score when I saw it on the club website... AND received a text message from sky sports.

I told Terry next day and he hadnt realised we were playing. But we were both happy with the result "the sign of things to come etc". The only wet blanket was my wife who reminded us that Cirencester were several divisions below us . "About 10" she said... Grrrr

Yes Yes Yes !

At last, the tickets are here !

It seems like Orient got it right.. I have spoken to Paul & Terry and we are all in a row. We just have to wait for Trevor's now....

I can't wait ... when is the first match ?

Just as we ordered !

Well, there I was, on the phone to Paul chatting about the weekend gone by, when I got a text message from Terry. We've signed a centre back ! By all accounts a pretty good capture, still young, big & strong. Hopefully just what we wanted... Does anyone out there have any views on him ?

I suppose we may still be looking for another striker, but I can't see anyone wanting to come & be the 3rd or 4th choice for a 4th division club.

But at least the pre-season training is starting & we should get some more news soon. It wont be long & the friendlies will start... then we shall see !

More players !

Well, its been a bit quiet for few weeks, hasnt it.
We finally got another winger after being knocked back by a couple of players. Im surorised we got this one, especially if Bournemouth were after him... but we shall see whether he is up to it .

I still hope we get a new centre half, because we definitely need one.

Andy Scott is youth team coach. I like the guy and very good luck to him... but has he done any coaching before ? Again we have to see whether he is up to it ?

It looks like we have a lot of questions to answer this season.

Fixtures are out.. Macclesfield for first game of the season... again. Hopefully we will be better in defense this time. Terry has told me he will miss the first two games, and I will be working on the day of the Rochdale game... a great start. I know we have the world cup next year but why does our division have to start so early ? I cant think of any internationals of that quality in th fourth division.

By the way, where are the season tickets ? Mid June I was told... and they had our money in May. Nice job Bazza.
